Get ready for fun and games at this year’s Maple Grove Days — July 12 to 16.
Bring your clever sleuthing skills and be the first to uncover the medallion. The winner takes home a $500 prize. To claim the prize, you must have purchased a Maple Grove Days Button, available at the Maple Grove Community Center or from Ambassador Candidates.
Adults 19 years and forward can gather at Lakeview Knolls Park for this fun game. The Pickleball Tournament is open to all levels and players classify themselves based on one’s own experiences. Applications can be found at the community center or online at maplegrovedays.org.
Outdoor fun for teens can be found at the Junior Golf Tournament held at Eagle Lake Golf Course on Friday morning or at Central Park for the 3-on-3 Outdoor Basketball Tournament. Capture the Flag action will be at Weaver Lake Park on Friday evening. Showcase musical talents in Battle of the Bands or be a budding designer and walk the runway in the Duct Tape Outfit.
BABIES & TODDLERS
The youngest of the competitors will be crawling and toddling as they navigate their way to the finish line in the Diaper Derby. Imagination is the game where kids have created costumes and cleaver outfits to participate in the Kids Parade. Bikes, trikes, wagons, scooters and strollers dot the path. Both events take place at Central Park on Friday evening.
The running craze continues in the 21st Annual Jim Deane Memorial Rice Lake Classic Run around Rice Lake. Limited to the first 350 pre-registered applicants. Get youngsters in the action by signing up for the Kids Fun Run. Run/walk around the .8 mile distance at the Central Park lake. Both held on Saturday morning.
Assemble a team of two for the Seventh Annual Cornhole Tournament held on Saturday with over $1,000 in cash and prizes being awarded. The self-officiated Sand Volleyball Tournament, hosted by MPRA, happens on Sunday Four or five team pools compete with top teams advancing to a single elimination tournament. All competitions will claim the title of being Maple Grove Day’s Champions.
Siblings, friends or family can take part in various fun competitions. Try the new Puzzle Challenge. Held in the Central Park, Phenow Pavilion, each team will put together a 500-piece jigsaw puzzle. Teams are made up of 4 people and must be 12 years and older. Build a Float-A-Boat vessel which will float down the Community Center Lazy River holding a 24-pack of soda without getting wet. Can you “melt” a t-shirt? Give it a best effort in the Frozen T-shirt Contest. Participants need to thaw it enough, using whatever means possible, and put it on to win a cash prize. More group fun abounds racing a bed down Main Street in the 10th Annual Bed Races. All funds benefit Peaceful Dreams for CROSS Kids, helping local families in need.
Even the car buff has an opportunity to join the competition on Main Street, as vehicles are judged in the “Top 10” Classic Car Show.
